Single-minded commitment in face of shocks and challenges

Elijah was sent to confront, not to comfort. Sometimes, we was able to comfort depending on the mindset of the hearer. He spoke God’s words to kings who often rejected his message. That goes for us too. This world is not prepared for a Christian commitment when challenges come their way. This world is going to fall because of the rejection of God’s message to His people. You see, God’s people are not just God’s children. He looks upon unbelievers as His children as well. If you have children, you will feel the same way when they refuse to accept a godly message because of the love of the world. God’s Word is often rejected just because God brought it. The soil of the heart embraces Him.

God will use anyone who receives Him. Elijah chose to carry out his ministry for God alone and lived for that. He was willing to make a decision. At times, he was isolated from other people who were also faithful to God. When you make a choice to serve God, have the mindset that you are committed ALL THE WAY. Never give up.

(1 Kings 17:1-24; 18:1-34; 19:1-24)
